Confidence

Entranced by rippling leaves,
Balanced on a wavering branch,
I'm touched by the air;
Caught by motion not my own.
Do the leaves move,
Or is it the invisible wind
Casting its hand over my position?
Whether seen or implied
The motion is there.
Guided by the unseen Director,
I merely breathe
His existence.

Looking Up From Darkness

What is it that I am doing,
Making empty plans?
What can I do
Other than wait and see...?

Where is it
That thoughts must go
When hope is deferred
In the face of unpleasant reality?

Yet, I do not order the thunder
Nor guide the rain.
Stars do not stretch their light
At my command.

Who do I think I am
To direct
What may happen
To me?

I will trust
The goodness and justice
Of One who would never
Bring dishonor to His name.

No, it's not a book review. It's not even a real poem. I drafted this last month, then forgot to come back. I think I stopped because I began to feel like it was too strange. But then ... just now it reminded me of truth. So, here it is, just in case it will remind you of truth also.

God is great.
Life rests in His hands.
He's in control of all.

God is good.
And all His actions toward us
Will bring us benefit.

I cannot let go of this:
He is much higher than I
And I must trust
Even when pain closes in.

When nations crumble and fall
God does not fear.
When terror cries in the night
He always hears.

Nothing can happen outside
His control
And ...
I don't need to understand!

He is love, grace and strength,
Tomorrow secure today.
He is amazingly lovely.

I can count on Him always
He told me so.
No matter the trial or pain that I see

What will I trust?
Chance or fate?
How much better to know
He is dependable.

We all believe in something
And we can see
That what we believe
Affects our choices....

We all hold to something
And sometimes it folds.
But God makes His promise so clear.
He never fails.

To those who believe in Him,
Follow Him,
See their need of Him ...

Every trial and joy is good for us.
He offers abundant resources
To His glory.
